how do i get around the httpd issue, or do i just need to ignore it?

What I did: I renamed "htdocs" to "users" and put the "include" folder under "users". Then you 
have to change require_once("users.inc"); in each file to the right path: 
require_once("include/users.inc"); 

If you really want to make it easy you could just move the files in the include folder to the 
"users" folder, then you don't have to change anything else.
