======== Course Announcement =========
When: February 27 through March 1, 2006 (3 days)
Where: Cycorp headquarters in Austin, Texas
Total Cost (including lunches): $1,900
This Cyc course will introduce the tools used in Ontological Engineering
and provide ample opportunity to use those tools to begin entering
knowledge into Cyc.
Cyc 101 will be a three-day hands-on workshop with a combination of
lecture and hands-on exercises. The instructors will give a brief
explanation of some aspect of Cyc and then the students will be given
time to apply that knowledge. Our aim is to have students spend as much
time as possible interacting with Cyc. When students leave the class,
they will feel comfortable with how to find and use the tools in
Cyc/OpenCyc, they will have a strong basic understanding of how to find
and make use of relevant KB content, and they will be able to enter
simple facts and rules without assistance.
Even if you have read all of our online documentation, you will still be
able to derive the following benefits from attending this class:
* an opportunity to better understand issues of intent, or why
things are done one way instead of another.
* an opportunity to see the typical uses of the tools that accompany
* an opportunity to interact with full Cyc to get an idea of what
will be appearing in OpenCyc/ResearchCyc in the future
* an opportunity to better understand Cycorp as a company
