MinGW - Minimalist GNU for Windows

I noticed that the source download at 
http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?forum_id=448373 is truncated.  
Can anyone point me to a working archive or patch?

Did you take a cvs snapshot to apply your patches to? Also, do you build under msys or msys-developer? It is built from a 6.3 release set of sources I fetched from a local GNU mirror. If a release number of 6.3.1 exists then it is wrong and I have made a mistake. The version number is 6.3-1 where the '-1' is the version of the patch added to 6.3. > Also, do you build under msys or msys-developer? I would like to as I think some parts of the patch contain changes suitable for GDB (struct environ, better abstraction for remote transports (winsock support)), yet other parts of the patch are questionable (readline should head to the readline maintainer, event loop) and parts I have no idea about (Al Steven's W9x patch). This could result in partial MinGW support in GDB with the need for an external patch. This may not be such a good idea and something the GDB maintainers may not like (a repeating "Why does MinGW not build ?" question) unless a clear path to a solution exists. Currently I have no time to progress the changes and rework if not suitable and so do not wish to waste the GDB maintainers time. -- Chris Johns

For building tools that need some of the support msys provides. The last time I was playing at building gdb under mingw, I had no luck unless I used the dvlpr compiler but I was probably doing something dumb. I'm in a similar boat. I've had ambition to get mingw support in the FSF branch but even less time than you to look at it. At least you've been able to bring the patches forward. There is an 'observer.sh' that generates an observer.inc that's included by observer.c. For some reason, some very subtle errors appeared in the generated file. I was able to correct them and finish the build but it looks like I've probably got a stray util (sed, grep, etc.) in my path that is behaving differently than the shell script expects.
