gtkpod doesn't support the shuffle yet. As far as I have understood, the
shuffle just needs an additional file to work -- gtkpod reads the iTunesDB
without problems, but obviously will not update this additional file when
writing the database.
http://ipodlinux.org/ITunesDB#iTunesSD_file seems to give the layout, so it
shouldn't be difficult to have this file written.
Why don't you download the "latest" version from
gtkpod.sf.net/gtkpod-0.87-2.tgz and patch it in? Unfortunately it's a very
inconvenient time for this shuffle to appear, because in the next big
release I'll use a re-written interface to write and read the iTunesDB (see
itdb*.[ch] files in CVS), so the work will have to be done twice.
I reckon that this iTunesSD-file should not be written unless a shuffle is
connected, but that's something we could worry about later.
Want to jump in?
P.S.: I'll also release 0.87 this week-end if I have time for it. We'll just
release another "SD" version with your patch.
P.P.S.: Please reply to the list.
