Your best bet is probably apt-get for SuSE (http://linux01.gwdg.de/apt4rpm/)
to upgrade GTK and all depending libraries until you get all the missing
Then it compiles without many problems. Note that you *must* have libsigc++2
installed. The old 1.x version won't do.
Also, some packages from the CD are upto-date enough, so apt won't offer them.
If apt doesn't have them, look on your CD.
