After 2.4.20-pre7 decided to cause me problems, Sapan suggested that I
rebuilt with CONFIG_FRAME_POINTER enabled, or try to build the kernel
against gcc 3.2, as per a prior suggestion from Alan Cox.
So, I've currently got 2.4.20-pre9 humming away in my office, which
should hopefully get a good thrashing over the next week or so. For the
record, my 2.4.20-pre7 kernel ran for almost 9 days without a single
problem, and continued to run correctly even after the kernel BUG
problems I was seeing. However, I would much rather have a stable host,
so am investigating ways to achieve this.
