I'm with you on this... you can't edit or view the libraries, so 
it kind of defeats the purpose.  I'll think about it, though... and
if my personal opinion changes, I'll let you know...

I agree on rejecting such a feature. I fail to see any use in searching a
(properly installed) library that way. It should always be enough to
search the *header* that goes along with it, instead. Just like we
currently do it with libc: search its headers in /usr/include, instead of
the library itself.

Like: we could have the patch on the 'patches' page at sourceforge, with
the appropriate comments and status information to make clear that, and
why we didn't fold it into the master codebase.

I think what you hav suggested is the possibly the best solution. Unless
cscope becomes a fully fledged IDE, I don't think this feature fits in
with its current functionality.
