I've noticed that the way to search everything in the index has been
Given that there are plans to ingest metadata other than raw MARC
(e.g. xml, such as DC or MODS via OAI), is this the right terminology?
Stanford, in its infinite wisdom, has a more complex environment. I'm
new here, so I couldn't begin to explain how we got to this set up, but:
1. we have incoming MARC from Unicorn for some of our libraries
2. we have incoming MARC from Voyager for some of our other libraries
(not yet in VuFind index, but soon)
3. we have incoming something from SPIRES, a library application (?)
used by high energy physics labs such as the SLAC, the Stanford Linear
Accelerator (not yet in VuFind index, but soon).
4. we have data for the VuFind index that will not reside in a
"Catalog" - digital objects and web pages that we want to be
"discoverable" but that won't necessarily be in Unicorn or Voyager.
In this context "Catalog" is perhaps not the best terminology. We
might want something like:
collection:Unicorn for that data
collection:Voyager for that data
collection:SPIRES for that data
collection:(blah) for ...
so perhaps the field that represents everything might be something
