By saying a "ESD safe" place, they were keep in the bag and case they were shipped in. I wouldn't say that they were mishandled either, but something might have happened. What is the best way to go about testing for this with only basic tools. This is also the first time I've hear the term "deadflash". What is this, and were is a good starting point for this? Thanks for your help so far.

The Tweener and Etherstix leds are indicating that the 5V source is OK, if the gumstix is apparently dead, it can be a HW problem.
The micro-controller and the memories are very ESD sensitive. Do you know if your gumstix was stored in an âESD safeâ place, like an ESD protection bag, during all this period?
First step is a HW troubleshooting (visual inspection, sources, clock, bus lines activity, etc) if everything looks OK, probably the boot code is corrupted, maybe you can try to make a deadflash in your gumstix.

Subject: [Gumstix-users] Gumstix wont boot.
So my question is, what would make a gumstix not boot? I've had my gumstix for about 6 months, and it's been setting on my desk for about 4 of them. So now that I'm about to start working on it again, it won't boot. Nothing happened to it, and last time it had power it booted somewhat fine. I get the one LED on the tweener card and the one LED on the etherstix. Can anyone help me?
