The problem remains that the firmware, patched or otherwise, still has the
same version number, as I understand it. -- 1AQ10001. FWIW, my drive
(below) has a manufacturing date of Dec 2010. So perhaps the '0001' is in
fact the mod to '1AQ1' that will appear as the firmware string in smartctrl.

I recently (i.e. one week ago) bought myself some HD204UI hdds - unaware of
the fact that those were the models affected by the known firmware bug.
Since I couldn't find any info like "all models manufactured after xyz are
bug-free" I contacted Samsung support, asking for that specific info. And I
just got a response: all drives manufactured on/after December 2010 come
with the patched firmware. So here, is this info FYI.
