I have tried to ignore the "onions" debate, believing that it was just a
joke, but if anybody is serious about renaming Webware as Webonions or
anything like that, I think it would be a big mistake.
People developing commercial or corporate applications have a hard enough
time using Python in the face of C++/Java/VB bigotry. Webware potentially
could give thousands of sites a compelling reason to adopt/allow Python for
use on their web servers. I can't see how deliberately naming the product
after something that stinks will help anyone make a case for using it in a
serious application.
I hope that Chuck will nip this idea in the bud, or bulb, or whatever.
