Is your router set to do dhcp ?
Here just plug in overo(+ tobi) boot and it grabs an address from dhcp.
Otherwise you'll have to set a static address.
From memory as haven't had to do this for a while
ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.5
or modify */etc/network/interfaces*
iface eth0 inet static
