This is not the case.
It is a kernel config option to select USB Host, USB OTG, or USB Client.
The kernel, as shipped, has been built with the config option for USB
Host (since the rootfs is X11 based and requires a USB KB and Mouse)
To get client mode support you will need to edit the kernel config to
enable client mode and rebuild the kernel.
