Which command are you talking about? Did it work before the latest
upgrade? For many months even on 10.4/ppc I've had a seg-fault from
various apt commands (apt-cache that only happens when run as a normal
user (i.e., via sudo or from a root-shell works fine). Just tried it
manually and my stack-trace looks the same (and still works fine from
a root shell). Although once I tried it from root to verify that it
worked there, now it also worked from non-root. There's clearly some
sort of caching or file-permissions bug here. So much for
reproducibility to debug:(

Finally got the crash to re-occur, and committed a patch for it (fixed
a while ago in upstream apt).
