the file you are probably looking for is
<http://downloads.sourceforge.net/halo-extension/smw%2B-1.1.zip?modtime=1210
945439&big_mirror=0> smw+-1.1.zip, which contains all the files you need for
installing the halo extension on top of an existing SMW installation.
Unfortunately, there are no installation instructions yet for the Halo
Extensions only. There are only instructions for an entire installation from
scratch (like the one you mentioned), so you have to extract the information
from there (especially concerning LocalSettings).

 

If you have any issues with the installation, please refer to the Help forum
of the Halo Extension which is available here:

Hi,

 

Almost too embarassed to ask but I want to install the SMW Halo extension
and have found it tricky to understand quite what I am to install! The
sourceforge download for smwhalo-1.0 has  alot of stuff other than a Halo
extension directory some of which refers to mysql and smw extension. I can
see that there is a bundled download for php/mysql/mw but I just want Halo
to add to existing sm wikis. The unpacked 8MB (smwhalo-1.0.zip)  just seems
not right.... and I don't understand which bits from
http://semanticweb.org/wiki/Halo_Extension_1.0_Installation I should use.
All other extensions so far have been easy so I can only think I have
misunderstood something here - is Halo not an extension in the way that
Semantic Drilldown etc is?

Given these issues, I think the use of the name "SMW+" requires some 
clarification here. It gives the impression that the project is especially 
closely related to SMW, and I understand that it may be surprising for users 
to find incompatibilities or update problems then. To clarify: no members of 
the SMW Project are currently involved in/affiliated with the Halo Project or 
with the commercial activities around "SMW+". We also have had no influence 
on this choice of name.

The SMW Project would of course welcome Halo to stay available as an SMW 
extension. Halo's current mode of distribution, however, is more that of a 
fork than that of an extension. Looking at Halo related webpages, one gets 
the impression that the relationship to the SMW Project is rather hidden 
there already (see e.g. [1][2]). So SMW+ users have little chance of getting 
in touch with the SMW community, and there is the very real danger of a fork 
and community split. I think it is fair to warn our users of the possibility 
of this fork, since switching to Halo then may have consequences for future 
software upgrades (you may end up being in either the SMW or in the Halo 
branch). Of course SMW has no desire for that to happen, and it may be 
possible to improve cooperation between the projects.

By the way, looking at the SMW+ pages now, I also acknowledge that we may need 
a PR manager to create fancy things like that flyer [3] for SMW too! 
Volunteers can send me an email.

Update: I got a fast reply from the Halo team, and I am happy to say that 
forking is as little in their interest as it is in ours. We will have a joint 
meeting for future coordination soon so as to define improve the coordination 
of our efforts. I take from the first reply already that availability of Halo 
as an extension is an intention of the project (so the current lack of 
instructions on how to install Halo in this fashion appears to be only a 
temporary shortcoming of the documentation).

Thanks Markus. We would also like to make our intentions very clear.
ontoprise, as the developer of the Halo extension (AKA SMW+) is
intending to update the extension always in accordance to the most
recent SMW releases. We&nbsp; are doing all we can to avoid forking and we
have been quite successfull with this in the past. The Halo extension
started ontop of SMW 0.7 and is now compatible with version 1.1.<br>

We greatly appreciate SMW as the basis for the Halo extension - and we
always mention AIFB as originator of this terrific piece of software.<br>

Regarding the name: "SMW+" or "Halo extension" are still working
titles. We are in the process of finding a new, cool name for the
