Summary: Allow disabling of images/non-texual elements for
specific feeds or in general
Platform: Ubuntu Packages
AssignedTo: akregator-devel lists sourceforge net
ReportedBy: boards gmail com
Version: 1.2.7 (using KDE KDE 3.5.8)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
There are only a few feeds in the entire internet (so to speak) that I wish to view any sort of images in, while the rest should just not even try. First, some examples of why this is a good idea:
List of news feeds where embedded images actually matter and aren't ads or Feedburner crap:
List of news feeds where embedded images are abused for ads:
* many others
List of news feeds where embedded images are abused for pointless purposes:
* Every Feedburner feed that enables tags, "OMGZ DIGG THIS!!11!1!11", "Y HELO THAR DELICIOUS LINK", etc.
List of news feeds that _should_ be using embedded images but don't:
* Most webcomics (xkcd is the only exception I can think of)
The feature I am requesting here is the ability to globally disable images in feeds and the ability to disable images on a per-feed basis. This would not only be really awesome, but it would also take care of the huge possibility of websites abusing news feeds for ads in the future. This feature can also be extended to include any non-textual elements including Flash, Java, video, audio, etc.
