As most of you already know I still wanted to send a message on the mailing lists about this:
yes... we won the first prize in the category Business management at the Trophees du Libre Software contest at Sossoins (near Paris), France!!! Wohooo! !!! !!11!!!!
It was really an amazing event, very professional and I am really proud that I could represent the LimeSurvey project. They did alot of filming there so there will be a DVD soon about it! Thibault (lemeur) was also there so we met the first time in real life. I have to say that it was like we have known forever and i really must admit that it was a very good feeling to have someone suporting me mentally.
it is 2 am in the morning now and I am sitting in Paris in a Hotel Room and writing this email on the brand new LimeSurvey project desktop we won as a prize.
But it wasnt all about the prize. More important was that we had the chance to meet alot of people being active in the Open Source Movement and surprisingly none of them were fundamentalistic. These were all (no exceptions!) really very open minded, nice and relaxed. I had alot of time to talk to the other participiants and i have to say that there were some amazing projects. Software I will certainly recommend in the future to anyone looking for something like that. I had the chance to have some really interesting contacts and the chance to ask alot of questions to get a better understanding of how Free Software works, not only for a developer but also from the user and service provider sode of view.
It would really excel any email to describe this. But let me say that the experience I have been shared during this event is something that will help me alot in the future.
let me just say this: You are a great team! Without the help of everyone of you (and i said that in my final speech) our great way so far wouldn't have been possible!
I will come home tomorrow evening and then I will have a little time to breath before the normal life sets in. I hope to see you all on the developer meeting on Tuesday. (20:00 GMT) We made a few pictures and at home I will do more pictures of the trophy and put these online.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask me here or any other way (email, skype, irc).
Best regards from the Seine
