Christoph has stated he doesn't have the time, and basically no one
else has volunteered to do it. I am surprised at that, because out of
all the people this is affecting, only one person needs to be able to
do it for it to get fixed.
A suggestion: would it be possible to just get the upstream kernel
to revert the patch that broke this in the first place? That'll
probably be countered with: "Get lirc into mainline"... So what is the
status of that? Once there, apparently there is an army of hackers
waiting to fix it :)
Second suggestion: somehow pool together a bounty to encourage someone
to step up. I wouldn't be me cos it'd need to cover the cost of a UK
TV license too ;) (I'm assuming all lirc_gpio hardware includes a tuner)
