This is already possible but it is a bit hidden.
Go to settings->configure toolbars and choose "MainToolBar <KatePartView>"=

which is only accessible if you have an open document. Now in the list on t=

left hand side you can add a spelling icon.

Yes, .backup files are created everytime the kile internal autosave gets=20
triggered. You can turn that also off or adjust the intervals. Go to=20
configure kile->general.

Wizard->Quickstart should remember the selected packages and this lets you=
