| When every i use the Audacity i cant hear no music play
| from Audacity but open in media player i can hear music
Check you have your onboard sound or chosen sound device
explicitly selected as the playback device on the Audio I/O tab of
Also check (on the track panel where the mute/solo buttons are)
that you do not have the -......+ gain slider over to the left ; and that
the left hand of the two volume sliders on the mixer toolbar
is turned up.
If this is a saved Project you are opening in Audacity which has a visible
waveform on the screen but no sound? This will occur if you originally
imported a WAV or AIFF into Audacity to start this project, used
Audacity's default behaviour of reading the uncompressed data directly
from the disc, but you have now moved or deleted the WAV or AIFF
file which the project depends on.
You will have sound only on the parts of the waveform that represent
an edit you made. The file(s) that you originally used to read data into
the project are marked as "aliasfile" in the .aup project file. You can open
the.aup file in a text editor to see the original location of these files, and
if you can restore them to the path noted in the .aup file, the project will
have sound again.
To avoid this problem when importing uncompressed data such as WAV
or AIFF, either retain the original audio file or set Audacity to make a
copy of the file, which will then be stored in the Project's _data folder. You
do this in Preferences > File Formats > "when importing uncompressed
audio...." and check the radio button "make a copy of the file before editing".
If you need more help, please tell us your operating system e.g. Windows
XP, version of Audacity (Help > About) and be as specific as possible as to
