Trying valiently to get ndiswrapper to install a driver for the
Broadcom Corporation BCM4318 [AirForce One 54g] 802.11g Wireless LAN
Controller (rev 02) in an HP Pavilion dc5320us lappy with an amd turion
64 bit cpu in it.
I've snagged the driver from the XP Home edition install, and which
appears to work just fine under winderz, and copied that whole WLAN dir
to /lib/firmware of an FC5-x86 install on /dev/hda2. The FC5-x86-64
installer is broken, hence the 32 bit FC5.
I can use mc to copy those files with no problems, but the copy
statements in /usr/sbin/ndiswrapper at line 139 of version 1.13 cannot
copy this file. Strangely, I can make a zero length file and that will
be copied and renamed just fine. So I copied this bcmw15.inf file, all
nearly 700k of it, to that zero length file. Neither cp nor
ndiswrapper can now copy it by either name. cp reports it can't 'stat'
the file to open it for copying, but its right there in plain sight.
Ideas while I still have some hair? Its getting thinner and greyer by
the hour, but then again I'm also 71, which I think is a good excuse
for the grey part...
People having trouble with vz bouncing email to me should add the word
'online' between the 'verizon', and the dot which bypasses vz's
stupid bounce rules. I do use spamassassin too. :-)
