Not if you are using Ubuntu or any other distro with its specifical
bug reporting option added :)

I don't give a crap about Ubuntu or any other distro with its specific 
bug reporting option added.  (Well, I do give a crap, because it means 
the bugs are less likely to get fixed because the packagers never 
bother to forward them, but that's not what I meant.)

I just want to get rid of the option from versions built from our source 
code in CVS or our source release, or else to make it work.

I thought we *did* make it work.  I think I did that myself, didn't I?  
Instead of going to some bugzilla thing, it's supposed to generate a form 
that encourages people to send a message to this list from the inside of a 
dialog box.  It was the best I could do, since I couldn't seem to turn it 
off.

Looking now, it does indeed seem to be broken.  It says it's going to send to 
this list, but then KDE's bug thing rejects it because we're not a real KDE 
app.

OK, KMidiMon has the same thing we have, and its Report Bug doesn't work 
either.  It's supposed to mail to Pedro directly, but it yields the same crap 
message from somewhere.kde.org about an illegal whatever.

I think KDE is built around the idea that everybody will eventually want their 
app to join the fold, and be part of the biggest package in the universe.

You know, thinking back, I had some exchange with someone at KDE over this, 
and I was supposed to send them a patch to make all of this less 
objectionable for those of us who never intend to move under the KDE 
umbrella.  Nothing ever came of it, obviously.

So, in short, I don't think we can fix it, and we can't get rid of it without 
considerable effort.  Or we couldn't umpty KDE versions ago anyway.

I've found an easy way to remove it from the help menu, without writting a lot 
of code. 

Append these two lines to your "$HOME/.kde/share/config/rosegardenrc" file:

[KDE Action Restrictions]
action/help_report_bug=false

This feature is supposed to be used by sys admins for kiosk mode KDE 
installations, but it worked for me in this way.

I think we could install this file to a system wide "rosegardenrc" when 
installing the program. Celestia uses this trick for its own needs, and I 
think that KMidiMon is going by this same way.

Aha.  And, of course, this in main.cpp:

    KConfig *config = kapp->config();
    config->setGroup("KDE Action Restrictions");
    config->writeEntry("action/help_report_bug", false);

I didn't manage to make it happen early enough to take effect from that 
very invocation (perhaps I need to experiment more), but it does take 
effect from the following run.

Same here. 

That's why I propose to install a "rosegardenrc" file with those two lines, 
somewhere in $(kde-config --path config). This would take effect the first 
time also.
