It always worked for you raster.  Slightly more useful is -

Works for me now after raster fixed it.  I put E17 through the eap
torture test (TM) on a regular basis.

Just wondered, but do all your eaps have correct EXE entries?
Recently (relatively) the eaps no longer get displayed if the exe line
cannot be resolved as an executable on the file system...

This is not my first outing with e17. Ive been building it from CVS for 
~ 9 months. The eap collection is largely the GANT group obtained from 
Get-e.org with a few I recently made.

For ref. there is a post on enlightenment-users mail list that describes 
the same problem ("eas cache problem") so I guess Im not alone.

Im gambling that CVS is behind & I dont have the latest updates built 
yet. This evening anonymouns CVS seems on its face again.

Simply means if the program is EXEcutable. e.g. if you have an
evince.eap and you point it to execute /usr/bin/evince. If
"/usr/bin/evince" is not around (or package is not installed), the eap
wouldn't show up in the ibar or engage!

I agree that anon cvs sucks at the moment. :)

Just finished a new build of all EFL & E after (finally) getting cvs to 
talk to me.  Problem still persists.  Of the twenty or so eaps only 3 
are discovered - no idea why just these three.  Considering all the 
trouble that anon cvs has had lately I guess there's still chance I dont 
have latest updates.

The frustrating thing is that I dont have a console eap to launch.  Cant 
do anything useful once E is up.

If you installed e_utils, you should be able to use the 'Run Command'
option in the main menu to run things.

This is crazy.  This was fixed days ago.

Time to strip it bare and try again.

Start by copying ~/.e to some place safe, then remove ~/.e and ~/.ecore
completely while E17 is not running.  Start up E.

If there is still no joy, completely uninstall E17, including the
directories mentioned above, and install again from scratch.

If all else fails, do all of the above, but from a fresh check out
of cvs.

I wasn't trying to explain your woes. Just trying to explain what the
"EXE" meant. I have the latest cvs updates pulled out with my
*non-anon* cvs account. :-) So you can download them and try to see if
it solves your problem.

I seriously doubt that anyone has ever accused me of using "windows
speak" before in my life, I think if they had the might not be around to
tell the tale!

Anyhow - what I mean is to check that the command in the field "exe" (in
the eap editor) is in fact in your $PATH when e17 starts up...

you can run any command, including a terminal, using exige, in the
main E menu ("Run Command").

Update:

Fresh e17 tree download from sourceforge anon cvs this date.  Built all 
EFL & E with no errors.  Same problem - all eaps except for 3 not 
found.  Tried removing ~/.ecore & ~/.e/e/config directories (from gnome 
session).  Login to E but no joy.

Thanks to all who tried to help.  Will check back in a month or so to 
see how things are going.  Mean time, back to (choke...) gnome.

Thats what it took.  Strip of ~/.e & ~/.ecore along with fresh tree 
download from cvs (sourceforge) this date.  Rebuilt it all.  eaps are back.

I must say this is a first for me after ~7 months of building e17 from 
cvs @ least once a week.  No cue what it was but whatever it was we 
killed it.  Thanks for help.
