------- Additional Comments From patroclo7@... 2006-04-18 15:01 -------
In order to have this patch included in mainline and the bug solved, we are
trying to reformulate the whitelist of affected models which can solve the issue
with this patch. We think that the best strategy is to identify the affected
models through the subsystem device/vendor IDs, but, for many models actually
listed in the whitelist through their DMI strings, it is not trivial to guess
their subsystem device/vendor IDs.
So we ask you all to report two data, in order to translate the actual whitelist
in a better one: your thinkpad model: the vendor/device IDs of the graphic
chipset subsystem: please note that these subsystem vendor/device IDs are
different from the graphic chipset PCI vendor/device IDs and identify the final
vendor of the card. Anyway, we need the numerica values. In order to avoid
confusion, we ask you to send us the output of two commands which should give
the data we need:
1) dmidecode -s system-version
2) lspci -d "1002:*" -vn | grep Subsystem
You should have both lspci and dmidecode already installed in your distribution,
otherwise install them.
In order to have faster results, I am going to send you (to all the addresses in
Cc) an email with the same request I am posting here. In order to avoid
confusion, send to my email address patroclo7@... (and do not post here)
the relevant data. I will collect the data and notify the other people involved
in the revision of the whitelist.
