Might as well get rid of our own match-by-name code too. Has xdgmime not
been released on its own? It's a shame to have to copy it all in.
Although it will stop it breaking if they change the interface...

There doesn't seem to be a release yet. It's not terribly much code.
Stephen could put it into ROX-Clib. If you guys where planning to have ROX-Filer link 
against ROX-Clib eventually, that would make sense. It doesn't look to me like that is
the plan though. 

Btw, the first patch was ok, but this one is broken. 
All files without extensions or xattrs appear as text/plain.
I didn't take much time creating this patch, and the changes to xdgmime are quite 
substantial, so I couldn't easily see what has changed - it's way too much. I might
have made a mistake or xdgmime CVS is currently broken.

I think the plan is to keep the filer with the minimum number of
dependencies on things outside a current Linux distro.

Packagers could be adviced to link against a static ROX-Clib.
How well is ROX-CLib modularised? 
Would this pull in only code actually used in the filer or would 
a lot unused code end up in the filer binary?
If the latter was true, it wouldn't be such a good idea indeed.
We could bundle the two or make bundling mandatory.
You can't get any of the xfce apps and utilities without the xfce libs,
and it doesn't seem to hurt their popularity. Even with their rather geeky 
userbase, which probably consists of control-freaks as much as ROX's.
