Are you using lirc_sir? Using SIR hardware only works on some hardware,
and the common failure mode produces many "39"s in the raw readings. This
is half a bit time at 115200 baud, which is the minimum driver pulse/space
measured time for the lirc_sir driver.
Please record a few button press raw data using mode2 -m and send it to
the list. Does it have lots of 39's in it?
