No, you aren't doing anything wrong. That is the way we normally use
it. VXL is (currently) not designed to be "installed", simply because
no-one has the time or energy to do it.
Personally, I don't find the separation to be an issue, but that may
be because I'm used to it now. :-)
Besides, if you build your VXL-related projects using CMake too, then
variables like VXL_CORE_INCLUDE_DIR and VXL_RPL_INCLUDE_DIR hide the
actual directory names, and the library directory never needs to be
