This looks ok, you just created a config for you remote. Replace
your lircd.conf with your new 'test' file.

Now you have to create a .lircrc file in your home dir to map
actions to your buttons.

Look at the docs on how to create this file.

thanks, i figured it out, but the problem is that i did make the ~/.lircrc=
=20
thing, with program and config and stuff, but it seems not to work...

what do i do about this? what is the best way to know if this works?

If the lirc modules are loaded and the lircd deamon is running
and you have fulll permissions to /dev/lircd then I'm out of
ideas.

You could try starting lircd in debug mode, check log files, ...

I'm thinking of creating a test script to test all of the above.
This could be usefull for more people with trouble.

thanks for all the help, i believe i have found it,

it appeared to be a problem with the mandrake patches in the kernel and=20
programs, it must try to read from /tmp/.lircd instead of /dev/lircd, so i=
=20
removed the fifo and made a symlink to /tmp/.lircd instead
