If you got this already you can probably use it in the short term if you buy a
converter cable Joystick port->Midi, that's what I use. Though they say the
midi-ports on soundcards are mostly no-good, it works good enough for me
Though, since you will be connecting several things over midi in a while it
would probably work best with a "real" midi interface...

I don't have one myself so I can't tell, I've heard that many of the USB
devices work good though. I think I've seen discussions on the
linux-audio-user mailinglist about this, try googling.
