I'm having trouble getting "oprofile" to work with a Red Hat 2.4.18-5
kernel. I can get "opcontrol --setup" to work, and "opcontrol --start"
starts the daemon, but the system either locks up or reboots within a few
minutes of activity. I haven't seen any clues in the log files, either
"/var/log/messages" or the "oprofile" log file. There's an entry when the
daemon starts, and that's it. It does appear to be collecting data; I saw
some files in the "samples" directory.
Any ideas how I can figure out what's happening? This is the latest
"oprofile" from the Sourceforge site, and the processor is a Pentium III
(IBM NetFinity 5000).
