Dear all,=20
I have tried flashing the SL-5500 according to instructions as good as I co=
uld:
downloaded bzImage and initrd.bin (on a windows machine),=20
renamed them,=20
copied them to the compactflash (using Qtopia),=20
moved them to the /mnt/cf (using filemanager on RAM) and did the correct C =
D reset.=20
After some frustrating attempts I made even sure nothing else is on the CF =
(Sandisk 48 MB).
All I get is the lights on for a second or so but nothing else. When I do a=
hard reset, I boot up the Zaurus like the first time, everything is gone=
except what I stored on the CF.
There are only 2 things I can think off that could be wrong:=20
1) The CF is not formatted propperly:=20
- the CF is quite old and I had to reformat it with my psion series5: I hav=
e no idea which file system it puts on the CF and have no way of checking=
it (I can only access it via a PCMCIA card on my laptop, via my psion or=
via the Zaurus and didn't find the appropriat tool to check the filesyst=
em).
Tomorrow am I will get a new compact flash :) and hope that solves the prob=
lem...
2) At present I can't check the Md5 on the CF because of access problems, s=
ee above.
It would be good to have a FAQ about how to check the format and the Md5 wi=
thout a Linux machine and as soon as I find a solution, I will write one,=
but any help would be appreciated...
