we may discuss a the structure of GNULpr a bit
suppose that I have installed the whole gnulpr (which I of course do :-)
being the Debian Mantainer)
this is roughly what happens when I print an image file using gpr
on a non postscript printer
imagefile --> a2ps -> ppdfilt -> lpr -> master-filter ->
-> mpage -> ppdfilt -> gs --> printer
there is of course a big duplication of work
I think we may change gpr so that if the printer queue uses a
filter such as master-filter, then gpr passes all the options to lpr
and do not call ppdfilt or a2ps
