I always meant to put EventSelection in a seperate file, I was waiting for
its implementation to stabilize before doing so. The notation tools are clear
candidates too, but I'd rather keep the slot methods in there.

I don't think so. We won't rename EventSelection to something else, nor the
notation tools, so even if their implementation differ, the file layout will
stay, won't it ?
