I have the same problem, in fact I think this is the major
problem with Mesa right now, there's no place to discuss
the application of OpenGL/Mesa libs to develop applications.
However, I think we need a Mesa-specific mailling list to
discuss Mesa application code and problems. Mesa has specific
features and problems. We have a specific programming culture,
because Mesa is a free library.
If someone posts a code problem to a general OpenGL list,
most likely he will receive different answers according to each
OpenGL implementation library used out there. Each implementation
will have his own bugs and particularities. At least we should
have the freedom to discuss our App Mesa code with other Mesa
users only. If you prefear to discuss your App Mesa code in the
context of the whole OpenGL community, including M$, you are free
to do it. My freedom does not stop yours and vice-versa.
Now that Mesa is allocated at source_forge, I don't really
see any reason to delay the construction of this second mailling
list for more time. I really believe this list would very, very
usefull to improve our App code and to spread Mesa/OpenGL knowledge,
particularly among the younger developpers. The sucess of most
projects created by the free community is due to these mailling lists.
I know by experience how important the Gtk lists are. It would be
just great if we could have the same with Mesa.
