I was afraid of that, based on what I saw when scanning the threads...
When you say "USB device support" do you mean the Gumstix acting as a
USB device, i.e. USB Client?
It should work as a USB host, correct?
Since that is what the Console VX board provides...
I am trying to get it to work as a USB host by connecting a USB flash
drive, but no luck there either.

Unfortunately, USB device support is essentially non-existant on the
PXA270 family of processors.
I've been following some threads over on the arm-linux mailing list
and it seems that the driver has been unmaintained for quite some
time, and consequently no longer works properly.
