I had the same problem by using player with qt together.
/usr/include/boost/signals/detail/signals_common.hpp:26: error: expected
identifier before ‘protected’
I solved it by replacing "plublic slot:" with "public Q_SLOTS:" in the class
where I included the <libplayerc++/playerc++.h> and changed the qt .pro file
by adding "CONFIG += no_keywords"
