Hi,
I just installed UML, but during the boot procedure he still has a failure like
that (this is my sreen echo from the point on where in my opinion the first
error occurs):
VFS: Mounted root (ext2 filesystem) readonly.
INIT: version 2.84 booting
modprobe: Can't open dependencies file /lib/modules/2.6.4-1um/modules.dep (No such file or directory)
Activating swap.
Checking root file system...
fsck 1.27 (8-Mar-2002)
fsck.ext2: No such file or directory while trying to open /dev/ubd/0
/dev/ubd/0:
The superblock could not be read or does not describe a correct ext2
filesystem. If the device is valid and it really contains an ext2
filesystem (and not swap or ufs or something else), then the superblock
is corrupt, and you might try running e2fsck with an alternate superblock:
e2fsck -b 8193 <device>
fsck failed. Please repair manually and reboot. Please note
that the root file system is currently mounted read-only. To
remount it read-write:
# mount -n -o remount,rw /
CONTROL-D will exit from this shell and REBOOT the system.
modprobe: Can't open dependencies file /lib/modules/2.6.4-1um/modules.dep (No such file or directory)
modprobe: Can't open dependencies file /lib/modules/2.6.4-1um/modules.dep (No such file or directory)
(none):~#
I'm using the kernel 2.6.4 with the corresponding patch and the Debian fs from
the UML download page : Debian-3.0r0.ext2
I get the error with the "Cant open dependencies ..." at some other points as
well. For example, if I logon to the standard user nobody:
(none):~# su nobody
modprobe: Can't open dependencies file /lib/modules/2.6.4-1um/modules.dep (No such file or directory)
modprobe: Can't open dependencies file /lib/modules/2.6.4-1um/modules.dep (No such file or directory)
modprobe: Can't open dependencies file /lib/modules/2.6.4-1um/modules.dep (No such file or directory)
PAM_unix[28]: (su) session opened for user nobody by (uid=0)
modprobe: Can't open dependencies file /lib/modules/2.6.4-1um/modules.dep (No such file or directory)
(none):/root$
I'm not asked for the password...
Does anybody has some hints?
Next problem: I would like to install Quagga on my UMLs. But when I run the
Config, the process doesn't find any C compiler...! Is this normal?
So, I compiled Quagga on the real machine and tried to launch ospfd from inside a UML.
First, I got the error: "Could not lookup user quagga..." so I added a user
quagga in the UML with useradd. (By the way, is this the correct procedure?)
Then if I try to launch ospfd, I get the followint message:
./ospfd: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.3' not found (required by ./ospfd)
I've really no idea how to fix this...
I know that these are a lot of question, perhaps they might be stupid questions
of a beginner, but it would be really great to give me some hints or advices how
to debug this and how to install Quagga with UML.
Best regards and thank you very much!
Tobias
