[Fontforge-users] fake bold and FreeType

Hi George,

I have been trying to generate a fake bold versions of a sans serif font
(called Legendum) and I have realized that the resulting glyphs are not
as good (or at least this is my impression) as the fake bold versions
provided by FreeType (as shown by gfontsampler).

Checking the fake bold from FreeType with other fonts seem to be
fine (also with serifed fonts). How about having in FontForge an option
for faking bold fonts using FreeType?

BTW, FontForge seems to have problems to render diacritical marks from
Legendum (http://ousia.eresmas.com/legendum-0.5.zip). Examples are ũ or
ǆ (I guess these are generated from a common bug). And this only happens
with the upright font, not with the italics.

I'm sure they are not. FontForge's embolden doesn't work.
