Maneuverability: Done! :-D
At least, as much as I can do atm. Just a couple of comments I'd like
to add about what I've got done:
You will notice that accelerations for each race's ships are fairly
uniform. Although Aeran ships may still need a bit of a boost, and
Rlaan ones a bit of a drop, I am happy with this arrangement.
Why? Because it seems that the variations in mass and velocity caps
between the ships change the feel of flight enough that I don't see any
real point in going the extra level deeper ... especially since returns
on playability are likely to be minimal at best.
There may of course be some exceptions to this that either of you might
raise, and that's fine by me.
** Number of Ships Done:
It is also apparent that I have not done *all* the ships in the file.
I've limited myself to the smaller (Goddard down) ships, purely because
anything higher is most likely not pilotable, or in the case of things
like the Mule, unique in flight.
** What Have I Done?:
Velocities (angular and linear caps), Accelerating forces (angular and
linear caps), Hull Strength. These are complete.
I have also given some preliminary tweakings to the cargo space and
upgrade space. These are *not* complete.
** What Needs to be Done?:
Jack: *Urgently* need to get the mass sorted for the new placeholder
rows! I can do diddily squat those units without it.
Jack: Cargo space. You have the best idea on this, and it isn't a big
job, so I'm hoping you have half an hour somewhere to do this.
Petey: Get those new upgrades propagated to the bases.
Petey: Start looking at upgrade space?
All: Keep playtesting the ships, to make sure we haven't overlooked
All: We need to organise a group discussion so hellcat (unless you know
it jack?) can teach us the new upgrade system so we can start assigning
All: We need to decide which of the other ships are to be pilotable, and
to get them sorted as far as balancing/upgrades are concerned.
All: Then, the non-pilotable capships may want a look at (but this has
never been one of our goals, so can possibly wait until after next
I think that wraps it up ... please read this guys, and comment, or
work, or better still, both :-P Sorry it was such a long message...
