Well, it would help if you explain what is the problem with w29n51
is. Other than that ndiswrapper can't deal with too many conf files,
you don't say what is the problem. But then you say that was resolved:

If scanning is the problem, do
iwconfig wlan0 power off
and scan again. If that doesn't work, do
iwpriv wlan0 ndis_reset
and scan again. Then report which works.
Current CVS can deal with as many conf files as necessary, so you
don't need to remove unnecessary conf files. In fact, you can install
any number of drivers you want, and only the ones actually necessary
for the cards present in the system will it load a driver on-demand.
As CVS log says, you need to reinstall Windows drivers with current
CVS (after installing ndiswrapper).
