Hi Benno,
    I have updated to Adobe Reader 6.0.2 on Win 2000 (completely updated). =
I also have updated MiKTeX, Ghostscript. However, I still see the problem=
 in the test file I created and the one you sent. The bars are longer tha=
n in the dvi version and the bar of A touches the fraction sign. I have t=
ried pdflatex, dvips & ps2pdf (GhostScript 8.14). The file looks fine fro=
m Ghostview.
    Do you have a different setup?

I've tested it with pdflatex and latex+dvips+ps2pdf. Same problem in
Acrobat Reader 5.1 on a Windows XP and in Adobe Reader 6.0.1 on
another Windows XP. But the .ps looks a lot better in GSview 4.6
(Ghostscript 8.14).

I have used Acroread 6.0.2 to view your attached file. I have zoomed in. See
the attached snapshot. Not too nice!

Just an update on the issue. I checked the output on Mac OS X 10.2.8. Both =
Preview (Mac's built-in pdf previewer) and Adobe Reader 6.0.2 show and pr=
int the .pdf correctly. The problems seems to lie with Windows (atleast 2=
000 and XP) version. I have filed a bug report with Adobe.
