Hello from D.C.
Gary from ResourceShelf.Com checking in with a couple of items that I noticed
on the OCLC site today.
OCLC is making an algorithm available
(http://www.oclc.org/research/software/frbr/index.shtm) free of charge to
organizations interested in converting their bibliographic databases to the
Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records (FRBR) model, in which
individual records are brought together under the concept of a work. The
algorithm was developed by research staffers Thom Hickey and Jenny Toves.
OCLC Chief Scientist Thom Hickey announces a two-page OAI server in Python
Although done as an example of how little code it actually takes to support OAI-
PMH, 2PageOAI implements a useful repository, and researchers have successfully
validated repositories running this code. University of Windsor's Art Rhyno
termed it "Amazing! Simply...amazing!!"
