I also had some quirky behaviour when using sys.path.append('...') and
importing, ie. I had a case in which a module would be imported twice.
I worked around it using 'from' instead of 'import' or vice versa, i don'=
recall precisely. My hypothesis was that the name under
which the module was registered in sys.modules wasn't unique, but
I did not try to verify this.
When this occurs again, i'll try and file a bug report myself.
You might try and inspect sys.modules.keys() or sys.modules.items()
at various stages in the code you posted.
