The history of this one is interesting: I test that the product compiles and
runs under JDK 1.4, which it does, because this call binds to
BigDecimal(double val). But then I do the final build using the JDK 1.5
compiler with a switch set to generate 1.4 code. This switch takes account
of VM differences between 1.4 and 1.5, but not changes in the class library,
so it binds this call to a constructor that doesn't exist in 1.4.
