I guess you all have read Albert's reply:
Version 0.098n is outdated and does not work with the recent
Ghostscript/GSView. You must update to Yap 0.99i via the MiKTeX
update wizard. Maybe that you have to download the latest wizard
first.
I guess this is the correct reason, since the problem started when
ghostscript 8.11 was installed. However, my comments about using
localtexmf as a temporary directory are still valid.
