No, I think it is quite correct now, except that you should now be able 
to safely skip the line:

$smwgDefaultStore = 'SMWSQLStore2';

(I just updated the wiki page, but the changes await moderator approval)

I'm having some difficulty getting the extension to work.

First: there is no /lib directory in /extensions/SemanticMediaWiki

I had to create it before installing the arc2 library there.

Second: when I tried to save modifications to the MediaWiki:Sidebar (or any other page) I get the following internal error:

Hi Yuri,

just build it up using time related magic words (see [0]).
Or if you have Extension:ParserFunctions installed, use #time ([1]).

Your built up sentence will be cached with your page. Whenever the page
is updated, so will all the inline queries as well as this sentence.

For the 'Update' link you will probably need some extension that allows
you to put query parameters in links, e.g.
Extension:AllowGetParamsInWikilinks [2].

I'm just starting to use SMW and SF in ernest.  I have a few questions:

1) Is there a way to make the CreateForm or CreateTemplate wizards preload with the current attributes of form or template that already exists?  It's easy enough to use these wizards to create a new form or template, however invariably after creating one, I realize that there are fields I should have included.  Once the form or template has been created, it seems the only way to modify them is by editing their wiki text.  Mind you, I have no trouble doing this, however it's easy to edit the template and then forget to edit (or improperly edit) the corresponding form as well.  I also realize that you can use the CreateClass, CreateForm or CreateTemplate wizards to simply recreate them from scratch.  Is there a better way?

2) I created a form/template for Employee.  After doing so, I also realized that I need a form/template for Person.  Obviously an Employee is a subtype of Person, with substantial overlap of fields.  You can see where I'm going.  I know how to handle this in RDF ontologies and individuals, however what's the best practice for this with SMW and SF?  I'd like to avoid needless duplication, but more importantly I'm seeking to represent the relationship of these two concepts.

No, the SF helper forms can't be used to edit existing forms or templates,
unfortunately. The tool that exists for that kind of thing is the Page
Schemas extension:

https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Page_Schemas

As for inheritance - that's a tricky thing. Ideally Page Schemas could be
used, but PS doesn't yet handle it, and it would be complicated to fully
add that feature in; we just had a discussion about it on the mailing list
earlier today, actually. Until then, one option is to create "form
templates" - reusable parts of forms, stored in templates, that can then be
included in multiple forms. See here:

Thanks for your quick replies.  Page Schemas seems to be exactly what I'm looking for.  I've started playing with it.  Is there any documentation about all of its options? Using schemas which I can cut and paste between Employee and Person will lessen the pain of my second problem.

@Yaron - taking your template suggest for my second problem, and thinking further about it, it seems a reasonable approach would be to make a template for Person, and then include that template in Employee template and extend it with the additional properties.  However, as it is now, the display of a instance's properties are intrinsically linked to the containment of those properties, which inhibits taking this approach to composing the information.  It might be better if the template representing the "class" only contained the semantic content, and then a different generic template could read that info inorder to display it as a table or info-box, etc.  Does that seem reasonable?

As far as I know all the features of PageSchemas can be accessed through
its visual interface. Just install PS and go to any category page. Then
click on "Edit Schema" button (near the Discussion button) and edit! I

Yes, "Has alternate form" and "Has default form" should work the same way,
as far as linking - in other words, the property tag "[[Has alternate
form:FormName]]" should produce a link to the page "Form:FormName". Is that
not happening? If so, what versions of MW, SMW and SF are you using?

I think that the question is "why don't special properties has the default
description?" That's what I was thinking too: it would be reasonable to
preload some generic description during SMW setup.

@Yury - that's exactly what I was trying to ask.

@Yaron - I'm using 1.20.4, 1.8.0.4, and 2.5.2, respectively.  I'll test to make sure it works, and report back if there a problem.  I was mainly concerned about the red link for Has alternate form, since unlike Has alternate form, it didn't have its own page.

Hi Alexander,

It's a reasonable idea to let admins add header text to any category's
BrowseData page. However, I wonder if there isn't some way to enable
something like this automatically. In the beginning, Special:BrowseData
included a link to the category whose data was being displayed, with text
reading something like "View category". Then someone (I don't remember who)
convinced me to get rid of that link, since it was unnecessary. But if that
link were restored, the user could click it to get to the category page -
and then that category page could contain a #forminput call at the top,
with instructions on how to add a page to that category. (There's a case to
be made that every category that uses forms should have #forminput or
#formlink at the top of the page.) What do you think of that idea?

on one page without the need to navigate to the Category page first.

A Category page could look like this:

unit test for the patch that covers the intended change.
