Hey, a bit of news. I'm scheduled to speak at RubyConf this year. An hour
of discussion on the topic "YAML and Ruby: A Story of Two Passionate Lovers".
Just joking about the title. I wish I could call it that, except stories
about passionate lovers always end tragically.
Here's a brief description from the RubyConf site:
Simplify your life with YAML for Ruby
Yaml is a specification for storing objects in plain text. Native types have a representation which is natural and meaningful. The comparison has been made: "Yaml is to XML as Wiki is to HTML." Yaml stays out of your way. A good fit for Ruby! The presentation will cover the basics of Yaml, as well as using YamlForRuby. The meat of the discussion will lie in demonstrating how to simply introduce custom classes for parsing and emitting by YamlForRuby. Information about Yaml is available at http://yaml.org. YamlForRuby is at http://yaml4r.sf.net/.
The presentation appears to be scheduled for Friday, Nov. 1st @ 3:00 PM.
The conference is in Seattle (Washington State Convention & Trade Center)
through Nov. 3rd. Admission is $200.
I also got to meet Ingy this week. He passed through Utah and we brainstormed
for a few hours at Denny's. It was great to talk to him face-to-face. I think
it might work to do some telephone calls between us, perhaps some conference
calls on major issues. We were able to cover alot more ground than I ever
have on the list. Yeah, so thanks again for coming down, Brian.
