You should see that file at:
src/video_dec/libvdpau/alterh264_bits_reader.h

Maybe your hg clone was incomplete. This has happened to me before. To
resolve I just do another fresh clone and it's fine.

Btw, I use xine-lib-1.2 vdpau for several Intel Atom/Nvidia ION
systems. Works great here. :)

OK rebuild ffmpeg with --enable-shared all went well, built and
installed xine, untill trying to compile xine-ui which can't find
libxine headers. Is that an option too now? headers are in
/usr/local/include/xine

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

OK I found some time to try and install xine-ui once again.

I have a libxine but no libxine2. I think that the libxine I have may
be left over from a Fedora rpm xine install???

Below is a search for libxine2

It has been a very long time since I installed xine from source,
anything from source for that matter, since about Fedora Core 5 or 6
whenever that was... So please bear with me while I get back up to
speed.

The xine-ui I am trying to install was grabbed from mercurial this evening

You need to relink your application. Make sure that you have this symlink:

/usr/lib/libxine.so -> libxine.so.2

On debian system, this symlink is in the libxine2-dev package. Note
that this package conflicts with libxine-dev for exactly this reason,
i.e., you have to choose between these two.

So for all Fedora 16 users - build ffmpeg from latest source and
compile xine-lib-1.2.1 against that
