Hi, I am the author of that patch. It would be disappointing if that
patch had totally managed to evade cvs - can someone confirm or deny?
I have been using the Jack output layer quite extensively here for some
time. It's part of a pretty substantial DSP based audio setup and it's
working extremely well.
Recently I have worked quite a bit on the jack library (bio2jack) to
reduce the jitter significantly, although this is probably most relevant
only for other media players which don't have the inbuilt metronome that
Xine uses. Anyway, it's working quite well and gets jitter levels down
to around 1us.
I will recut the patch shortly (week or two) with the new library.
Since it doesn't seem to break any existing functionality and I can
certainly vouch for long term use here without problems, I would be
grateful if you would consider adding the code to the 1.0 branch for
inclusion in a near release?
You can read a little more about DSP based room correction and the
system I am using it in here:
Please feel free to contact me if you fancy doing something similar - if
you have a reasonable amount of amp power to spare then I can guarantee
that room correction will VASTLY improve your home theatre listening
