We are running out of room with the Display settings page, we'll need to
create another page to fit any more configuration options, but can do
something like this:
( ) Cruise/Final glide
( ) Circling mode
I'll make the changes for 4.21 (first bugfix release).
As to the GPS lag, this is something I'm working on. The problem occurs
not due to the display itself, but due to the nature of how GPS
calculates bearing. Bearing (and speed) requires two fixes, and as such
is up to 1 second in lag. Because glider turn rates are relatively
smooth (you can't roll instantly from 30 degrees to zero, for example),
it is possible to compensate for this lag directly. I am experimenting
with code to do this and will also put this in the 4.21 release.
You might find it useful to experiment with the "Track circling" display
mode. What this does is have the bearing to target as up on the map
when in circling. This is the most natural way of representing circling
As for the AAT mode, this is an issue of the order of rendering I
suppose. I will make sure AAT is drawn underneath airspace, TPs and
topo if that's what you think is appropriate. There wouldn't be any
difference between sim mode and GPS mode here.
